As the second visit of Project Senehase Nagam organized by the Rotaract Club of faculty of Law , University of Colombo for the month of August . we went to Shilpa Children’s Development Centre at Narahenpita, which provides shade to many little flowers striving to conquer the world tomorrow.
As soon as we entered, we found it to be a very neat and pleasant environment suitable for children. The children we were polite, down to earth and was accustomed to a efficient daily routine. The time table displayed in the bulletin board held evidence for this. There, they had not only time to engage in religious rituals and educational activities, but also to watch television and listen to the radio.
Not only the children but also the wardens were also very friendly and welcomed us with love and also appreciated our decision to spend a lovely evening with these children sharing laughter and kindness.
At first we spent some moments of happiness and joy where we got the chance to bond with these children, sharing each others interests, where we got the chance to know them a little bit more. We realized that these beautiful souls were not only interested in studies but also showed there excellence in non- academic activities such as dancing, singing and sports. The medals and trophies displayed in the glass cupboard further confirmed it.
Then we spent a very entertaining evening playing, singing and dancing with them. These lovely moments took me back to my childhood memories as well.
This day was a new experience for us as well as it was clear from their smiling faces it was a very joyful evening for them as well. We said goodbye to them with the promise of coming back again.
