On the 13th of March, members of the Rotaract Club of the Faculty of Law at the University of Colombo embarked on a meaningful journey to Karuna Elder’s Home in Boralesgamuwa as part of the සෙනහසේ නෑගමි initiative. This visit was more than just a scheduled event; it was an opportunity to spread warmth, share smiles, and create unforgettable memories with the elders who welcomed us with open hearts.
A Day to Remember
From the moment we arrived, the air was filled with anticipation and joy. The elders greeted us warmly, their kind smiles and eager eyes making us feel at home. As we settled in, the conversation flowed naturally sharing stories from their past, words of wisdom, and even lighthearted jokes that made everyone laugh.
The highlight of the visit was the time we spent singing together. Music has a unique way of bringing people together, and this was no exception. Traditional songs, old classics, and even a few lively tunes transformed the atmosphere into one of pure joy. The elders clapped and sang along, and some even swayed to the rhythm, their faces lighting up with happiness. Seeing them so engaged and delighted was truly heartwarming.
Beyond the entertainment, we shared snacks, listened to their heartfelt stories, and enjoyed each other’s company. It served as a reminder of how meaningful companionship can be for those who often feel lonely.
Cherishing the Moments
As the evening drew to a close, we felt a deep sense of fulfillment. The happiness on the elders’ faces, their heartfelt blessings, and the warmth we shared made this visit truly special. It wasn’t just about giving; it was about connecting, learning, and experiencing the purest form of joy through simple acts of kindness.
As we left Karuna Elder’s Home, we carried with us not just memories but a renewed understanding of the importance of compassion and companionship. This visit was a beautiful reminder that happiness multiplies when shared, and sometimes, the simplest gestures leave the deepest impact.
Here’s to many more moments of love, laughter, and togetherness! 💜
