A Little Visit, A Lot of Happiness

As part of a project organised by Com Service Avenue, we visited Navodya Special School, a school for children with special needs. We took some small gifts for all the children and spent the morning with them celebrating Children’s Day.

We all went together at around 10 a.m. The children seemed happy to see us, and it was lovely to see their smiles. It was my first time visiting the school, but some of our members had been there in previous years and already knew a few of the children.

We had planned a small activity for Children’s Day. We painted the children’s palms and helped them make handprints on paper, then wrote “Happy Children’s Day” on it. The teachers helped us with everything, and it was nice to see the kids taking part in the activity.

We started with the little ones and then went upstairs to spend time with the teenagers. The teenagers were much more talkative, and we got to interact with them a little more. We even sang some songs together, which was really fun!

Another thing we did was draw a tree and use the children’s fingerprints as leaves. Seeing all those little fingerprints come together to make one tree was such a sweet moment. It was a simple activity, but it made a lovely memory for all of us.

Honestly, I really enjoyed the whole experience. I loved spending time with the children, talking to them, singing with them, and just being there with them. My heart felt so full by the time we left.

I went there hoping to bring some happiness to the children, but I came away feeling just as happy myself. It made me realise how even a few hours of our time can mean something special. I’m really glad I got to be part of this project, and it’s definitely a morning I’ll remember with a smile.
