The 9th Installation Ceremony of the Rotaract Club of Faculty of Law, University of Colombo, was held at the CIDA Auditorium, Savsiripaya on the 25th August, marking the beginning of what will be an amazing journey.
Official proceedings of the ceremony commenced with the lightning of the traditional oil lamp. Following that, the house was called to order by Rtr. Jayani Christina, once the dignitaries took their respective seats at the head table. Flag Salutation, Rotaract Invocation, and the Rotary Four-Way Test were then continued, which was followed by the Rotaract Song.
Afterwards, the Outgoing Secretary, Rtr. Pulasthi Edirisinghe addressed the gathering and presented the Secretary’s Report for the year 2019/2020 which contained the significant and wonderful projects executed throughout the year while sharing cherished moments and memorable photographs from each project of the past year, on the screen.

Then Outgoing President for the year 2019/2020 Rtr. Kavinda Bandara addressed the gathering and shared his wonderful experiences about the past year while extending his sincere gratitude to all those who supported him. Further, he conveyed his wishes to the Incoming President Rtr. Dulmini Gamage and her team for a successful year ahead. Following that, the Certificates of Appreciation were awarded by Rtr. Kavinda Bandara to his Board members who tremendously supported him to take the club into greater heights.

Up next, Rtr. Aparna Kulathunga introduced the Incoming President, Rtr. Dulmini Gamage, revealing her fascinating cooking skills and amazing procrastination abilities. She also mentioned how strong leadership skills she possesses while emphasizing her innate abilities, dedication, hard work and competency in managing people. Following that, the most awaited moment of the ceremony took place collaring the Incoming President of Rotaract Club of Faculty of Law, University of Colombo, Rtr. Dulmini Gamage for the year 2020/2021. Then she addressed the gathering while mentioning how privileged she feels for becoming the President for this year.
Afterwards, the letter of appointment was given to the newly appointed Board of Directors giving enthralling introductions to each and every one of them.

Following the agenda, the dignitaries enlightened those who were present with insightful speeches. Firstly, the District Rotaract Representative, Past President, Rotaractor, Rotarian, Kavinda Kasun Sigera addressed the gathering. He highlighted how the Rotaractors have become the professionally equipped strongest youth led movement in Sri Lanka even amidst a global pandemic.

Secondly, District Rotaract Chair, Rotarian, Amjaath Yoosuf shared his thoughts with the audience conveying his best wishes to the newly appointed Board of Directors. Next, the Club’s new website was launched making their 9th Installation a significant and memorable one indeed.

Once the website was launched, our Guest of Honor, District Youth Service Chair Person, Rotarian, Dr. Rohantha Athukorala, was called upon the stage to addressed the gathering. He also admired the Viral Vote project conducted by the Rotaract Club of Faculty of Law of the University of Colombo while mentioning how creatively it has been outlined.

Afterwards, Chief Guest of the Event, the President of the Rotary Club of Colombo East, Rotarian, Asela Samarapperuma shared his valuable thoughts on the Installation with those who were present.
Next, Youth Service Advisor of Rotary Club of Colombo East, Rotarian, Muditha Premathilake addressed the gathering mentioning that he would give his best to support the club to achieve its goals.
Tokens of appreciation were presented to dignitaries who graced the occasion and then the floor was opened for felicitations where Rotaractors of all clubs who participated that day congratulated the Outgoing Board on a tremendous job done and added well wishes to the Incoming Board of the upcoming year.
The 9th Installation Ceremony of the Rotaract Club of Law, University of Colombo came to a closure with the vote of thanks being delivered by the Secretary for the year 2020/2021, Rtr. Chamathka De Silva. Afterwards, the attendees were treated to refreshments followed by a session of continued fellowship.
While we are profoundly grateful for everyone who participated for the 9th Installation Ceremony of the Rotaract Club of Law, University of Colombo, we believe that our newly appointed Board of Directors who are an awe-inspiring group of undergraduates, will carry the legacy of our club making a difference in their community through creative and wonderful projects.
