Scarce Clean Water

Even though 70% of the Earth’s surface is covered with water, all of it cannot be considered and consumed as clean water. Clean water, indeed, is a rarity now.

Fresh water is needed for almost all the human activities. It is a basic human need. And it has also been recognized as a Sustainable Development Goal by the United Nations.

Roughly around 1.1 billion people around the world lack access to water all year around. Additionally, about 2.7 billion people experience severe lack of access to fresh, usable water at least once a year. It has caused immense issues to them.

Lack of clean water and sanitization causes a number of diseases such as cholera and typhoid fever. Diarrheal diseases have become one of the number one reasons for death in those countries.

Ecosystems which feed the human population are stressed due to pollution. Global warming which is also caused by the irresponsible behaviour of human beings has caused more than half of the world’s wetlands to disappear along with an alarming amount of flora and fauna.

If this consumption trend continues, by the year 2025, two thirds of the population of the world will be prone to water shortages.

දුර්ලභ වූ පිරිසිදු ජලය

පෘතුවි පෘශ්ඨයෙන් සීයට 70 ක්ම ජලයෙන් වැසී තිබුණද එම සමස්ත ජලය පිරිසිදු ජලය ලෙස සැලකීමටත්, පරිභෝජනයටත් ගත නොහැක. සැබවින්ම පවිත්‍ර ජලය දැනටමත් දුර්ලභ වී අවසාන ය.

මිනිස් ක්‍රියාකාරකම් සියල්ලටම පාහෙ නැවුම් ජලය අවශ්‍ය වේ. එය මූලික මිනිස් අවශ්‍යතාවයකි. එසේම එක්සත් ජාතීන් විසින් එය තිරසාර සංවර්ධන ඉලක්කයක් ලෙස හදුනා ගෙන ඇත.

වසරකට දළ වශයෙන්, ලෝකය පුරාමිනිසුන් බිලියන 1.1 කට ආසන්න ප්‍රමාණයක් ජලය ලබා ගැනීමට අපොහොසත්ව ඇත. මීට අමතරව, අවම වශයෙන් වසරකට වරක් බිලියන 2.7 ක් පමණ ජනතාවකට භාවිතයට ගත හැකි, නැවුම් ජලය ලබාගැනීමට නොහැකි වී ඇත. මෙම තත්ත්වය අතිවිශාල ගැටලු වලට හේතුවක් වී ඇත.

පිරිසිදු ජලය සහ සනීපාරක්ෂා හිග කම හේතුවෙන් විවිධ ලෙඩ රෝග පැතිරී ඇති අතර කොලරාව, පාචනය සහ උණ සන්නිපාතය නිදසුන් ලෙස හදුනා ගත හැක. පාචනය රෝගය එවැනි රටවල් වල සිදු වන මරණ වලට ප්‍රමුඛ හේතුව ක් වී ඇත.

දූෂණය හේතුකොටගෙන ජනගහන වර්ධනය පෝශණය කරන්නා වූ පරිසර පද්ධතීන් පීඩනයට පත් වී ඇත. මිනිසුන්ගෙ වගකීම් විරහිත වූ හැසිරීම් හේතුවෙන් හටගත් ගෝලිය උණුසුම නිසා ලෝකයෙන් අර්ධයක්ම අරක් ගත් තෙත්බිම් මෙන්ම භයානක සත්ත්ව විශේශ සහ ශාක විශේශ වියැකී ගොස් අවසන්‍ ය. මෙම පරිභෝජනය ප්‍රවණතාව දිගටම පැවතියහොත් 2025 වන විට ලෝක ජනගහනයෙන් තුනෙන් දෙකක් ජල හිගයට ගොදුරු වනු ඇත.

தூய நீர் பற்றாக்குறை

பூமியின் மேற்பரப்பில் 70%பகுதி நீரால் மூடப்பட்டிருந்தாலும், இவை அனைத்தையும் சுத்தமான நீராகக் கருத முடியாது. உண்மையிலேயே சுத்தமான நீர் கிடைப்பதென்பது இப்போது மிக அரிதான விடயமாகும்.

கிட்டத்தட்ட அனைத்து மனித நடவடிக்கைகளுக்கும் தூய நீர் தேவைப்படுகின்றது. இது ஒரு அடிப்படை மனித தேவையாகவுள்ளது. மேலும் இது ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் சபையினால் நிலையான அபிவிருத்தி இலக்கொன்றாக அங்கீகரிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

உலகெங்கிலும் சுமார் 1.1 பில்லியன் மக்கள் ஆண்டு முழுவதும் தண்ணீர் பற்றாக் குறையினால் அவதிப்படுகின்றனர், இன்னும் வருடத்திற்கொரு முறையாவது சுமார் 2.7 பில்லியன் மக்கள் தூய மற்றும் உபயோகிக்கக்கூடிய நீரைப் பெறுவதிலும் கடுமையான பற்றாக்குறையை அனுபவிக்கின்றனர். அது அவர்களுக்குப் பெரும் பிரச்சினைகளை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது.

சுத்தமான நீர் மற்றும் சுத்திகரிப்பு இல்லாததால் கொலரா மற்றும் டைபாய்டு காய்ச்சல் போன்ற பல நோய்கள் ஏற்படுகின்றன. குறிப்பாக வயிற்றுப்போக்கு அந் நாடுகளில் மக்கள் இறப்பதற்கான முதன்மைக் காரணமாக உள்ளது.

மனிதனின் பொறுப்பற்ற நடத்தையால் ஏற்படும் புவி வெப்பமடைதலினால் உலகின் அரைவாசிக்கும் மேற்பட்ட ஈரநிலங்களிலுள்ள தாவரங்கள் மற்றும் விலங்கினங்கள் காணாமல் போயுள்ளன.

இந்த நுகர்வு போக்கு தொடர்ந்தால், 2025 ஆம் ஆண்டளவில், உலக மக்கள் தொகையில் மூன்றில் இரண்டு பங்கினர் நீர் பற்றாக்குறைக்கு ஆளாக நேரிடும்.
